This Position:
As part of the SC Johnson College of Business IT team, this position reports directly to the Associate Director of Client Services with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Associate Director of Instructional & Collaborative Technologies.
It is a dual role that is responsible for providing essential end-user support and maintenance for our desktop computing environments as well as providing audio visual support in classrooms and conference rooms.
Key responsibilities of the position consist of:
Desktop Support (75%):
Provide end-user support and maintenance within the college desktop computing environment.
Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, and upgrade PC/Mac hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance.
Support devices running complex business systems for all functional needs.
Manage a ticketing queue system, updating the status and communicating on a regular basis with stakeholders on their issue or service request.
Identify, investigate and resolve moderate to highly complex user questions regarding PC/Mac and peripherals.
Assist with policy-setting, research and planning for the Client Services team.
Provide guidance, advice, or information to others within the IT team.
Provides limited server support.
Linux experience desired.
Ability to be provide quality customer service.
AV Support (20%):
Troubleshoot and resolve both simple and complex problems with classroom technology systems including, but not limited to, digital audio processing systems, classroom control systems, video conferencing, integrated webinar, lecture capture and computer systems, in a timely, effective manner.
Provide end-user training to faculty and others who use the building AV systems in the most effective use of the technology.
Manage the problem/request queue to ensure response time and follow up is performed per established guidelines.
Maintain inventory of classroom and loaner computers.
Work autonomously but escalate difficult problems to Associate Director of Instructional Technologies.
Other (5%):
Other duties as assigned.
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 2-4 years of relevant desktop support and/or AV experience.
Strong skills in computer hardware/software support.
Excellent customer service and a high degree of responsiveness and problem-solving skills are a must.
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a team, or independently, completing tasks in a timely manner.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science with a minimum of 5 years of desktop support and administration for PC's/Mac's.
Experience with hardware/software support in a computer lab environment.
