What's the role? Retrieves, sorts, assembles medical records into the proper chart order, insuring that records are updated, required forms and documents are provided, pages are signed and dated, according to facility standard.
Reviews medical records for accuracy and completeness; evaluates document codes for correctness; ensures security and confidentiality of medical records.
Processes requests for patient information by classifying accordingly (i.
e.
Physician Office, Insurance Reviews, Lawyers, and Worker's Compensation).
Ensures the minimum necessary of protected health information (PHI) is used only for purposes identified or as required by law and not further disclosed without patient authorization.
Accesses the location of medical records (paper charts) through a chart holding facility; Tracks and logs requested charts in and out of offices.
Provides support by communicating with the clinical staff when a provider requests outside records and retrieving those records.
Access the hospitals electronic record system for reports, operative notes, discharge summary, laboratory and radiology reports Our ideal candidate will have:
Maintains highest level of confidentiality at all times with both patient and organizational information High level of accuracy and attention to detail in performing responsibilities Knowledge of medical records laws and regulations Knowledge of electronic medical record systems and functions Exceptional service attitude and communication style Excellent written and verbal communication skills Professional appearance and demeanor Basic keyboard skill Please note, not all of the listed skills are necessary to be qualified or considered for this role.
