Human Resources Assistant V-CALS Human Resources Office About the College of Agriculture and Life Science The College of Agriculture and Life Science is a pioneer of purpose-driven science and Cornell University's second largest college.

The Opportunity The College of Agriculture and Life Science Human Resources Office is seeking a Human Resources Assistant V to provide day-to-day human resources consultation and advice to faculty, chairs, managers and staff in a team and service-oriented environment.
You will also:
Effectively manage a comprehensive range of human resource functions for both academic and non-academic staff members including, job design and classification, developing and implementing recruiting strategies, overseeing advertising and outreach initiatives, coordinating appointment procedures, establishing appropriate compensation ranges and practices, administering disability and family leave programs, and ensuring the proper interpretation and application of human resource policies, laws, and best practices.
Build strong and productive working relationships with every member of the Cornell community.
Adhere to stringent confidentiality standards at all times.
Occasionally offer support in payroll and H1B processing, as needed.
This is a full-time Contract College position that is based in Ithaca, NY.
This position follows a 2:
3 campus-to-home hybrid work schedule.
During non-inclement weather months, all team members are required to work on campus on Tuesday's due to a weekly staff meeting.
This hybrid work schedule is subject to change at any time.
Typical work hours are 8am-4:
30pm Monday through Friday, but flexibility is available to help support work-life-balance and department needs.
What We Need We are looking for a team member who is customer-service oriented, collaborative, a critical thinker, adept at problem solving, and flexible in their approach to providing guidance based on the specific needs and preferences of each individual customer.
Additionally, you will:
Hold an Associate's degree and 4 to 6 years relevant experience or equivalent combination.
Have the aptitude to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
Discreetly manage highly confidential material and to exercise sound judgment and discretion.
Display outstanding customer service skills with an ability to manage multiple and competing deadlines concurrently in a high-pressure environment.
Be proficient at using Microsoft products including spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
Have proven successful oral and written communication skills.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and then execute them.
Demonstrate practice of the University Skills for Success.
If you possess these experiences and skills this may be the role for you! There are a few other qualifications that we would view as incredibly helpful in this role, to include:
PHR or SPHR or ability to obtain within two years.
Experience with Workday.
Experience with electronic time collection and human resource and payroll policies and procedures.
Basic understanding and application of HR knowledge and applicable HR laws at the local, State, and Federal level.

The position will allow for the flexibility to work remotely a minimum of three days per week at a location of employee's choosing within the United States.
