$20-23/ hour depending upon experience and skills Gorges Health is a private medical practice located in Ithaca, New York providing excellent, patient centered, primary care for women and consultations for menopause and related medical concerns.
We are seeking an organized, friendly, enthusiastic, reliable, professional person to join our team.
Our candidate should be a team player who enjoys working with people and is adept with technology, numbers, and problem solving.
Experience:
Medical experience is preferred but not required Customer service and computer skills preferred On the job training is provided Education:
Minimum High school diploma or GED required College level education is preferred Diploma as a medical administrative assistant is preferred, but not required Essential job
Responsibilities:
Promptly and professionally answer telephone calls and route appropriately Greet and check in patients Understand HIPAA laws and patient privacy Use customer service principles and techniques to calmly and effectively work with patients Explain financial requirements to patients, collect copays and outstanding balances Prepare and process email and phone correspondence Obtain, verify and update patient information including insurance coverage Request, locate, send and receive medical records Schedule patients for appointments, lab and imaging studies Assist with consultant referrals when requested Receive training and effectively use Athena, our electronic medical record and scheduling system Prepare and maintain daily patient schedules and organize schedule changes Maintain files and assist in establishing office systems; maintain forms and documents Help maintain a clean office environment, assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment Order office and clinical supplies Knowledge, Skills and Performance requirements Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures is preferred, but not required Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation Knowledge of basic math, ability to make calculations, balance and reconcile numbers Ability to operate basic office equipment including a desktop computer and printer Good organizing skills including time management, prioritization and problem solving Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions Sort and file materials correctly Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, staff and consultants Manual dexterity for office machine operation including a computer and printer Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling required Office environment involving working closely with patients and staff Benefits 401 K Paid time off Health insurance if needed Job Type:
