Summary:
The Nursing Clinical Educator is responsible for the planning and provision of educational offerings for all nursing staff through supporting the foundational aspects of entry into practice, as well as continuing education of experienced staff.
The Nursing Clinical Educator is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational needs and initiatives to enhance the quality of patient care and experience of nursing staff.
This position will work collaboratively with unit leadership as well as System Central Nursing Education and other Unit Nursing Clinical Educators across the system.
The Nursing Clinical Educator effectively provides and promotes person-centered care, nursing best practices, and staff engagement in a commitment to excellence.
Strong written and oral communication skills as well as strong organizational and computer skills required.

Responsibilities:
Provide education in an organized manner to all nursing staff.
Offers education in a variety of styles to facilitate learning for nursing staff.
Coordinate and oversee the orientation process including the planning and evaluation of all new employees, and provide written updates at 30 day and 60 day intervals in preparation for 90 day introductory evaluation.
Measures, documents, and supports competency of staff.
Identifies and addresses deficiencies in staff competence in collaboration with unit leadership.
Utilizes HealthStream and other tools to ensure staff are compliant with organization's educational and regulatory requirements, such as BLS, ACLS, PALS, Joint Commission and New York State requirements.
Assesses learning needs and gaps in knowledge, skill and practice.
Uses educational best practices to design and implement activities to achieve specific outcomes.
Evaluates effectiveness of learning programs compared to desired outcomes.
Develops and provides Continuing Nursing Education as a member of the CMC Provider Unit.
Participates in interprofessional education as appropriate.
Assists staff in the identification and development of strategies to ensure a continuous process of development and maturation.
Supports role transition, role integration, skill acquisition, and mastery as learners advance from novice to expert in their profession as specialty.
In collaboration with staff and leadership, integrates best practice evidence, educational and clinical expertise, and learner preferences to facilitate decision-making.
Systematically and continuously chooses actions that lead to measurable improvement in health care services Works collaboratively with other departments, professions, and organizations to promote quality health care.
This may involve supporting nursing and other students throughout the organization, and participation in committee meetings as assigned by Director.
Provides frequent and regular updates regarding orientation progress, identified gaps and plans to address them, status of compliance with required activities, scheduled educational activities, attendance at learning events, effectiveness of education, updates on activities performed in the nursing units, and all meetings attended.
Coordinate annual unit skills day and associated documentation of staff participation.
Participate collaboratively with central education and system wide educational needs as reflected in assisting in system wide nursing orientation, equipment initiatives, annual educational needs as directed and in collaboration with Central Nursing Education Other

Requirements:
Education:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in critical care nursing.
Licensure:
Currently licensed in the State of New York as a Registered Professional Nurse.
Certification:
