Summary:
This position is responsible for managing and scheduling all incoming surgical procedures throughout Cayuga Health Systems.
Collaborates office practices, Registration Department and Pre-Admission Testing, and Surgical Services Case Manager as needed.
Job Responsibilities include:
Maintains surgical scheduling system.
Schedules patients for the appropriate surgery/procedure and department efficiently and accurately.
Demonstrates knowledge of the functionality of the OR module and has the ability to open/close rooms and move cases as requested.
Updates block schedule/assignments in Meditech as needed.
Verify booking sheet is completed.
Schedules diagnostic appointments as appropriate for procedure being scheduled.
Works with charge nurse regarding added cases and changes to schedule.
Able to prioritize assignments within scope of position.
Chart verification/auditing of OR charges/closing of surgical cases.
Collects and inputs patient data accurately and efficiently.
Assist with management of OR Utilization Dashboard Identifies specific unit problems and seeks appropriate resource for resolution.
Keeps environment clear and any patient information confidential.
Accurately uses hospital information system to enter and retrieve patient data.
Coordinates issues with external departments as needed for resolution.
Requirements:
Candidates should possess excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to multitask.
Knowledge of medical terminology, familiarity with imaging exams will be considered a plus.
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) - (Required) Experience - Minimum of 1 year-Healthcare (Required), Minimum of 1 year-Related work experience (Required) Licensure - N/A Physical Requirements - Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
Work is typically performed in an office environment.
