Job Description:
Assess individual student needs for assistive technology (AT).
Consult with faculty and other campus partners to ensure procurement and provision of accessible formats.
Develop online training materials for students using assistive technology.
Maintain and update this technology information on the SAS website.
Ensure Learning Management System (currently Canvas) accessibility for students with testing accommodations.
Identify, procure, or convert alternative format media for students.
Conduct ongoing needs assessment and evaluations, and make recommendations for technology re to compliance and student access.
Oversee, train, and support student workers to assist with conversion process.
Create training materials and maintain connections to relevant IC departments.
Maintain Canvas digital accessibility training site.
Create and maintain records of student requests, actions taken to meet access needs.
Maintain inventory of department assistive technology.
Ensure tracking and return of all borrowed AT devices by students.
Initiate outreach, build relationships, and cross-campus collaborations to provide training and technical support to faculty and students.
Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Experience with remediation of documents and A/V media is strongly preferred.
A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently, make high-level decisions based on needs, track, organize, and manage multiple priorities with the ability to work both collaboratively as well as independently.
Hybrid options are available.
A successful candidate will be aware of digital accessibility standards, as well as federal, state, and local guidelines related to assistive technology compliance, and best practices to help make recommendations and provide direction in the procurement of digital resources.
