Summary:
The Parts Advisor sells at retail or wholesale, parts to all available customers, over the counter, through the shop or on the phone.
Essential Job Duties and
Responsibilities:
(Additional duties as assigned) Specific to Front Counter:
Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts Pull purchased parts from stock.
If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit an emergency order if requested by the customer and premium is paid.
Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information.
Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
Verify will call and back order files weekly and return to vendors, or stock those items not required within required time limit.
Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
All special-order parts must be prepaid.
Specific to Rear Counter.
Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in progress.
Make sure all parts are handed out to technicians are charged to repair orders.
Order parts not in stock, after discussion with Shop Foreman, it is determined that parts are needed and will be used upon receipt or that the customer will return for the required repairs.
Notify the Service Advisor and customer that ordered parts have been received.
Answer the parts phone promptly and courteously.
Ensure that before parts can be charged out, the Technician presents a duplicate copy of the repair order.
Ensure all special-order parts are prepaid.
Required Experience and Education:
High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED) One year of experience in the automotive parts department.
One year of sales experience.
Ability to work well with the public, sometimes serving several customers at a time.
Additional Requirements:
Valid New York State Driver License.

Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
Computer software:
Microsoft Office to include Word, Outlook, Excel, and CDK.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel, push, pull, reach, crouch, bend, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive motions of the hands and/or wrists.
Physical Exertion:
Exerts up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Environmental Conditions:
Work is performed on the road.
Occasional weekend and evening hours are required.

Hazards:
Slips, trips and falls, ergonomic injuries, and occasional lifting.
Safety Precautions:
Breaks are encouraged to allow for stretching and training is provided covering slips, trips, and falls, safe lifting and stretching techniques.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
