35 an hour Visit Ithaca, a division of Tompkins Chamber, and the official destination marketing organization of Tompkins County, is hiring! We are seeking a motivated team member in our Social Media Specialist role, to support our mission with planning, content execution, and reporting on a portfolio of campaigns and digital projects following the Visit Ithaca annual work program.
This team member will leverage their experience, knowledge, and skills to define and execute social media communications following multiple organizational brands to an audience of visitors to Tompkins County.
In addition to social media channels, the role will contribute to other digital content streams for Visit Ithaca.

Job Duties:
Develop and implement creative strategies based on seasonal themes, relevant brands, and partnerships in alignment with annual work plan.
Maintain content calendar with input from marketing team to implement seasonal themes and niche segment goals.
Create compelling content and demonstrate experience writing persuasive copy with an awareness of different audience segments.
Strategize opportunities to repurpose content across digital platforms and multiple brand campaigns, including contributing content to consumer email campaigns.
Manage Crowdriff account for monitoring and utilizing user generated content and requesting repost rights, and assist Director of Marketing with overall managing and organizing digital assets.
Assist Communications Manager with monitoring influencer content, and help to identify content collaboration opportunities.
Make recommendations for organic and paid campaign strategies, execute paid strategies and/or assist Director of Marketing with working with agencies.
Track partner mentions on social media in CRM.
Provide monthly and quarterly social media reports, along with monitoring trends on an ongoing basis to make recommendations to Visit Ithaca and tourism partners.
Contribute creative ideas for social media and content in support of sales department work plan.
Ensure that CVB content is representative of and speaks to diverse populations Assist with researching, writing and/or updating blog posts (2-4 per year), including content suggestions based on social media trend insights.
Create graphics following Visit Ithaca brand(s) to enhance social sharing and email campaigns.
When advantageous, collaborate cross-departmentally among Chamber and CVB teams to leverage available resources, knowledge, and tools in the interest of efficiency and service to our visitors, tourism partners, and Chamber members.
Essential Functions This role is a combination of desk work (hybrid in-office/remote) and onsite, hands-on work that requires time moving about an office and/or an event or meeting in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Off-site meetings around the county are scheduled as needed.
Work is completed in digital formats individually and in collaborative groups.
Social capacity includes small meetings, networking at small and large events, and one-on-one in-person and/or digital communications with team members, tourism partners, and service providers.
Technological systems and platforms used include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams); Zoom/virtual environments; PowerPoint; Adobe Suite; Canva; Simpleview/CRM database; Constant MailChimp/email platform; social media apps/management software, CrowdRiff.

Candidate Profile & Position Requirements Experience & Education:
At least two years' social media marketing experience required.
High school degree required, industry-relevant higher education or certifications preferred.
Brand management competency required; content development experience required; social media account management experience required.

This role is ideal for someonewho is adept at identifying, developing, and executing branded social media content.
Strong oral, visual, and written communications skills; and taking initiative and exercising creativity are integral.
Effective time management, attention to detail, planning, and organizing are necessary.
The ability to lead and manage projects independently is desired.
