This position will be co-equal with the Director of Horticulture (DOH).
The Garden Center Manager (GCM) will be responsible for all the day-to-day aspects of running the garden center including:
ordering, scheduling and supervising, assisting customers, and maintaining the look of the Garden Center.
Established over 45 years ago, Cayuga Landscape is a full-service design-build landscape company, retail garden center, tree farm, and growing nursery.
Nestled in the beautiful hills of the Finger Lakes, we specialize in deer-resistant plants, perennials, native plants, fruit trees, and large shade and flowering trees.
The ideal candidate will be friendly with a positive attitude, have a great work ethic, and a broad knowledge of plants of the Northeast.
Horticulture experience is required.
The ability to work one weekend day is a requirement.
Qualified applicants should enjoy being outdoors in all types of weather, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, and work well with others.

Qualifications:
A degree in Horticulture or related field 5-10 years of experience working in the horticulture industry Managerial experience, including hiring and scheduling Detailed knowledge of woody plants and perennials of the Northeast Knowledge of horticultural practices such as pruning, pest and disease management, etc.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills An eye for detail and design Fluency with Windows/iOS, Microsoft Office Suite, and other common business computer programs Excellent business skills, including leadership, initiative, time management, inventory management, and proficiency with math Experience operating heavy equipment such as skid steers or tractors Physically fit with the ability to lift 40 lbs Clean driving record Duties Ordering and restocking assigned plant groups Ordering, pricing, and organizing bulk and bagged mulch, hardgoods, statuary, pottery, gifts, and tools Supervising and scheduling staff to accomplish all care, display, and sale of goods Advising on our advertising and media for weekly and seasonal promotions Updating the website, sign boards, and social media to remain current Property maintenance, safety, and irrigation monitoring and repair Coordinating bulk material deliveries and small plantings through the Garden Center Working with designers and crew leaders to order and maintain plants required for commercial and residential jobs Creating a welcoming, organized, and pleasing shopping environment through creative displays, informational signs, and well-maintained retail areas Mentoring and supporting staff Advancing the vision and mission of Cayuga Landscape through presentations, community engagement, and public speaking Schedule:
