We do this by offering a glamping experience where guests can stay in furnished canvas safari tents with modern amenities, thereby offering them a bridge into the wild without sacrificing creature comforts.
Our devotion to sustainable practices is rooted in the raw materials we use to build all facets of our camp and extends into our farm-to-table food and beverage programming and activities, such as wild foraging hikes and live music nights.
We hope to send every guest home with a treasure chest of unforgettable memories and a newfound, steadfast reverence for Mother Nature.
Primarily Role and Responsibilities We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with an eye for detail and tidiness, a love of gardening and landscaping, and a familiarity and comfort with a wide range of basic maintenance tasks.
You are comfortable interacting with curious guests who may have questions about our gardens, and you are willing to pitch-in to help other team members when needed around camp.
Tasks may include but are not limited to:
Spring setup and Fall pack-down and storage of large canvas safari tents and furniture.
Daily use and organization of our Kawasaki Mule maintenance vehicle.
Basic maintenance and fixes around camp including re-tying knots and tightening tents and rainflies, painting, basic plumbing troubleshooting in our bathhouse.
Inspecting wood tent platforms and tent poles for damage or issues, and other small miscellaneous projects.
Light golf-cart maintenance Maintaining and enhancing public spaces, such as our lobby tent, stone patios, bocce court, swing and hammock areas, etc.
Pest removal Landscaping including trail maintenance, hedge trimming, leaf blowing, lawn upkeep, weeding, mulching, fertilizing, watering, and ongoing beautification as needed.
Planting, watering, and maintaining potted plants, garden beds, berry patches, flower gardens, and landscaping features.
Harvesting food and/or flowers for various purposes (sale in the market, bouquets for public spaces) Knowledge, abilities, skill sets, and requirements Experience and passion for gardening and/or landscape maintenance.
Effective and safe use of our tools and equipment inventory.
Bright and friendly demeanor with a love for interacting with other people.
Must have own transportation to arrive at Firelight Camps at 1150 Danby Rd, Ithaca, NY Expect an average of 30-40 hours per week.
