POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for ensuring that the products both purchased and manufactured by the Engine Timing Components division of Morse TEC Ithaca meet the established quality standards maintained by BorgWarner and meet the quality expectations of our customers. The individual will be accountable for developing, tracking and analyzing key performance and quality indicators/metrics and to create action plans to respond to observations and trends. The incumbent will also manage the implementation of quality control strategies, measurements, training and communication. They will coordinate with other function managers in the planning and overall implementation of quality programs. Responsible for personnel management and financial control for his/her department.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains and improves Quality systems, manuals, and procedures, in support of system certifications such as TS16949, ISO 14001, or similar. Maintains and improves internal quality support laboratories, SPC systems, gauging systems, and other quality support systems.
Ensures that materials used and products manufactured meet the highest quality standard so that Morse TEC can maintain and enhance their position in the world marketplace.
Establishes and maintains divisional product testing programs so that products meet the customer's quality standards.
Develops Vendor Quality Systems and implements quality engineering procedures for incoming material to ensure it meets specifications.
Visits customers and suppliers to stay abreast of their changing quality requirements.
Selects, trains, supervises, and motivates direct reports.
Keeps management team and plant informed relative to all aspects of quality.
Safety and Health - Responsible for completing required safety training, reporting and correcting any unsafe practices as appropriate, completing work activities in a safe
manner, and complying with safety and health requirements for respective position.
## Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
A Bachelor of Science and minimum 10 years of experience in all facets of the quality engineering process are preferred.
Professional quality certification desired
Knowledge of Statistical methods desired
Experience in Six-sigma, Shainin, or other team-oriented problem solving methodologies desired
Lean / Toyota Production System understanding desired
Machining and assembly experience desired.
Ability to supervise mid or senior level professionals and/or supervisors,
Ability to manage departmental budgets and goals.
Mastery of a diverse set of quality/statistical tools and methods.
Ability to effectively resolve conflict with both internal and external customers.
Ability to effectively collaborate with other organizational groups.
Lead the organization in development of a continuous improvement culture.
